The Boy and the Heron, vibrant animation in theaters

The critically acclaimed film, with numerous recognitions and awards, including the Golden Globe, is now in Colombia.

The metaphorical film based on the 1937 novel of the same name written by Yoshino Genzaburō comes written and directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki.

With a story that is unrelated to its original version, the animation brings an intimate and symbolic look from its producer, Toshio Suzuki.

It was made with the production of Studio Ghibli and premiered on July 14th, 2023 in Japan, later that same year in Spain, the United States, Canada and Mexico.

At the beginning of 2024 in Argentina, Chile, Peru and Colombia. From there until now it has raised more than 163 million dollars.

In this way, “The Boy and The Heron” captivates the world and continues to achieve success for the studio and its director, winning the Golden Globe for best animated film.

In addition, it has been nominated for Best Animated Film at the 2024 Oscars.

 

Synopsis

“Mahito, a 12-year-old boy, struggles to settle in a new city after the death of his mother.

However, when a talking heron informs Mahito that his mother is still alive, he enters an abandoned tower in search of her and arrives in another world”.
