Pepe Gorras now in movie theaters

From Puerto Rico comes an exciting children’s comedy that highlights values such as friendship, empathy and family.

Real situations and problems during childhood is the plot that the film tells in a school environment where rivalry can overcome the differences.

It is directed by Puerto Rican Maja Quevedo and is based on the successful young adult novel by Tina Casanova that has the same name as the film.

It was pre-selected for the Platinum Ibero-American Cinema Awards in the First Film category. After its premiere in Puerto Rico, it has received more than 30,000 spectators.

The film comes to Colombia thanks to La Alucinante Fabrica to highlight values such as empathy, friendship and reconciliation.

 

Synopsis

“Pepe Gorras tells the story of a 10-year-old boy and his classmates, who face academic difficulties in science.

The opportunity to improve their grades arises with a project for the science fair, but the rivalry with their eternal opponent “El Orejotas” triggers a series of events that forces them to confront and overcome their differences, where in the end a beautiful friendship is cultivated”.

Puerto Rican production

“Produced by A Quevedo Film and recorded in 12K in the towns of San German and Yauco, in the southwest of Puerto Rico.

It has a cast of 27 child actors and combines animated scenes inspired by the book made by Edwin Negroni and Sara Melendez.

The music is original by Kelvin Acosta, who fuses folklore with the ska style.

Its audiovisual production process took two years and was supported by the budget of the Puerto Rico Film Commission.”

 

About Maja Quevedo

“Marialejandra Martinez Garcia de Quevedo is a young Puerto Rican director, producer and screenwriter.

Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, she graduated in Film Production from the Sagrado Corazon University.

Among her productions are Nicolas, an internationally awarded short film recognized at different film festivals, as well as Pepe Gorras, her debut film.

Maja Quevedo is the founder of A Quevedo Film, a film production house established in Puerto Rico.”
