Miradas Medellín: Cinema Epicenter in Colombia
An event to present and highlight the best of audiovisual arts and Ibero-American cinema is promoted by the capital of Antioquia.
A space to watch films, share with distinguished guests, and experience the audiovisual world is organized by the Secretariat of Citizen Culture.
Through the District Cinematheque and in conjunction with the city’s Film Commission, Miradas Medellín has established itself as a focal point for the country’s cinema and visual arts.
During its editions, there are screenings, training, and industry events in a single, vibrant, and creative space full of knowledge and interaction.
An event to see, enjoy, share, and learn at every edition.
Results of its Fifth Edition
Under the name “Creative Geographies,” a sensory map of contemporary Ibero-American cinema was presented from November 4 to 9.
With 95 film screenings (33 feature films and 40 short films) from 16 countries, the festival showcased a diversity of cinematic languages and geographical aesthetics.
There were more than 80 guests, prominent international films, national premieres, and a segment dedicated to films made in Medellín.
In addition, the first international co-production meeting was held, a platform for the industry that brought together 64 guests from Latin America, France, and Canada.
Furthermore, 34 panels, 5 labs, and 7 specialized workshops focused on audiovisual development, distribution, and co-production took place.

“Community Geographies” and “Expanded Geographies”
These new sections broaden the event’s formats with community cinema initiatives and audiovisual installations.
They also offer virtual reality experiences and fulldome screenings in partnership with collectives such as Fotosíntesis and the Medellín Planetarium.
In this way, “Miradas Medellín” is consolidating itself as a strategic space for building film collaboration networks.
It is also projected as a platform to strengthen the internationalization of local projects.
In addition, it serves as a meeting point for producers, programmers, festivals, funding bodies, and sales agents.
