Find out how a sedentary lifestyle is a habit that kills
Spending a lot of time sitting, not exercising or moving little, puts people’s physical and mental health at risk.
Diseases in the muscles and bones, accumulation of fat in the body, loss of elasticity, being overweight, increased lymphedema or excess skin and fat, are some of the most common.
Other respiratory, cardiac, circulatory, pulmonary, and visual problems can also arise from these factors, which can alter the well-being of the organism.
For this reason, it is necessary to increase physical activity, and sleep well, to avoid innumerable problems that can affect peace of mind and human well-being.
According to the World Health Organization “non-compliance with current recommendations on physical activity causes more than 5 million deaths worldwide each year in all age groups.”
It also points out that “currently, more than 23% of adults and 80% of teenagers do not perform enough physical activity.”
Due to this situation, the WHO recommends that adults and young people reduce their sedentary lifestyle, and help children, so that together they can commit to a more active and healthier lifestyle.
In addition, it advises reducing the time on screens and mobile devices to a maximum of one continuous hour, with active breaks later to reduce brain or ophthalmological problems.
These suggestions are relevant to reduce the high risks of various physical or mental illnesses, which could even lead to death.
