About Pirsas

It is a short documentary, thesis resulting from the Master’s Degree in Cultural and Audiovisual Management at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogota, directed by Angelica Maria Torres Tamayo.

From an intimate perspective, it addresses the tragedy of the Scouts No. 4 Pirsas group, on March 18th, 2006 on the slopes of Ruiz Volcano, in Colombia.

There, 11 children died in a stone avalanche, including Jorge Ivan (junior), his brother.

From a tour with her mother around the scene, she makes a record of that trip, mourning and painful conversation 15 years after the event.

For Angelica this story: “goes beyond being a reflection on grief, it is also about the lives of these children who died in a brave way and happy to do what they were doing.”

NEST Official Competition

It is the only section dedicated to short films in San Sebastian, focused on receiving and making visible productions by film students from different parts of the world.

It brings together selected filmmakers and universities to participate in screenings, discussions and master classes given by industry professionals.

The winning short film in this competition receives a cash prize.
