Camila Loboguerrero will receive the Macondo of Honor
The Colombian director and screenwriter will be recognized for her work for promoting cinema in the national and international industry.
Thanks to her effort and cinematographic career, this pioneering and visionary woman leaves an indelible mark as a screenwriter and director.
Through her work and legacy, she inspires new generations of filmmakers with her art and commitment to cinema.
On this occasion, the XII Macondo Awards 2024 recognize her passion and dedication, being one of the pioneering women of the seventh art in Colombia.
Among the categories in competition and the Macondo Award for Film Professions, the Macondo of Honor Award is given to Camila Loboguerrero.
This event will take place on November 3rd at the Santander Theater in Bucaramanga, Colombia and will be broadcast live on TNT, Max and Canal TRO.

The Macondo Awards tribute to Colombian cinema and those who make it possible with the help of the National Council of Arts and Cinematographic Culture – CNACC and EGEDA Colombia.
The nominations and winners are chosen autonomously and democratically by more than 700 members of the Academy.

About Camila Loboguerrero Vergara
She was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1941. In 1963, she received a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts and began working as a professor of Art History.
In 1966, she traveled to Paris with a French Government’s scholarship where in 1970 she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from the University of La Sorbonne.
That same year she also obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Cinematography from the University of Vincennes.
In 1971, she returned to Colombia where she shot her first short film in super 8mm, entitled “Jose Joaquin Barrero, Painter”.
Since then, she has participated in the direction of several feature films, documentaries, short films and medium-length films between 1973 and 2008.
Extended work
Her audiovisual career has extended to video and television series with unitary programs for entities such as Colcultura and Unicef.
Her time on the small screen has been marked by different productions for Caracol Television, Punch and Jorge Baron.
In addition, she has held various management and public positions in the national film industry.
In addition, she has been a professor at prestigious universities in Colombia.
Also, she has been a jury member of film scripts in entities such as Colcultura, FOCINE, RTVC and MIN-ICT; and in national and international film festivals.
Among them, the Huelva Film Festival (Spain), the Peñíscola International Social Film Festival (Spain), the FICCI, among others.
Awards
She has received several awards and has been selected at festivals, such as “Nochebuena”, Official Selection at the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival FICCI.
“Maria Cano” was awarded Best Film at the San Antonio Texas Festival, and won Best Photography Direction at the FICCI.
The filmmaker has also been recognized with the Medal of Cinematographic Merit at Proartes (Cali).
