Greenpeace promotes Better Without Plastics initiative

Stopping pollution is everyone’s responsibility, it is necessary to avoid the continuous use of plastic to change this reality.

“Tsunami of plastic invades the planet’s oceans, endangering thousands of species in the sea,” said Greenpeace according to the recent report ‘The Royal Society’.

This report shows the immeasurable global contamination, since around 72% of species analyzed have plastic inside.

Bottles, bags, straws, packaging and disposables are embedded and navigate like garbage in the habitat of aquatic species.

According to Silvia Gomez, director of Greenpeace Colombia, “what we must do is speed up legislation that prohibits single-use plastics.”

According to the study, around 56% of single-use plastics go directly to the trash and part of these go to the water.

According to Greenpeace “currently, each Colombian produces approximately 24 kg of waste per year and in the future, there could be more plastic than fish in the oceans.”

Stopping pollution is everyone’s responsibility, therefore, it is necessary to avoid the continuous use of plastic to change this reality.

Entrepreneurship

Due to this situation, ‘Greenpeace’ Colombia invites people who wish to support the cause to sign a formal petition addressed to the State on its website.

The purpose is to send a letter to the Ministry of the Environment to improve waste management and eliminate single-use plastics in the country.
